A militant bag, a tribute to my sister Laurence, who fell victim to an aggressive form of breast cancer 14 years ago.
I myself have been under close surveillance for several years, and every year the time for medical checks (MRI, mammography, and ultrasound) is quite stressful for me.
Every year, “Octobre Rose” is a moment that touches me deeply, even though I'm not exactly sure what to do, or at least I didn't feel ready to publicly engage in it.
This year (2022), I felt ready. I wanted to support a local association, Ama Rose's, and do it using a skill that brings a lot of fulfillment to my daily life (and that Lolo would probably have been pleased to see me explore), sewing.
So, I created a bag to offer at auction. It was purchased by a woman who decided to return it to me this year (2023) to sell it again for the benefit of the association.
It was made from a babywearing wrap fabric and scraps of upcycled leather, in a practical and beautiful pattern.
